Bai Tu Long Bay, Vietnam
Visited • Feburary 18 2026
One of the highlights of our Vietnam adventure.
Instead of the busy Ha Long Bay, we chose the quieter Bai Tu Long Bay, where our overnight cruise had only seven passengers.
It felt peaceful from the very beginning. We explored a floating fishing village, wandered through a cave, enjoyed good food on board, and watched the limestone islands disappear into the mist.
At first, I wasn't sure if I could paint the view while the boat was constantly moving. But I soon realized I didn't need to capture every detail perfectly. As long as I sketched the horizon and the distinctive limestone cliffs, I could recreate the feeling of the place.
After waking up to the beautiful morning light, I knew I had to capture the scene in my sketchbook. The cloudy weather gave the landscape a quiet, mysterious atmosphere that made this place unforgettable.
